አንድ የቅዱስ ዮሃንስ አፈወር ጥቅስ

«ስፖርት የሚከታተሉ ሰዎች የታወቀ ስፖርተኛ ከመንደራችሁ መጥቷል ከተባለ ይህን ስፖርተኛ፤ ችሎታውን እና ጥንካሬውን ለማየት ብለው ወዳለበት ይሮጣሉ። በአስር ሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ ተመልካቾች የተሞሉ ስታዲየሞች አሉ። እነዚህ ተመልካቾች አንዳች ነገር እንዳያመልጣቸው ብለው እስኪደክማቸው ድርስ አያናቸውንም አዕምሮአቸውንም አትኩረው ስፖርቱን ይመለከታሉ። እንዲሁም የታወቀ ዘፋኝ ከመንደራቸው እንደሚገኝ ከሰሙ ሰዎች ያላቸውን አንገብጋቢም የሆነ ጉዳዮቻቸውን ሁሉ ትተው ዘፋኙን ለማየት ይሄዳሉ። ዜማውን እና ግጥሙን ተጠንቅቀው ያዳምጣሉ። ለታዋቂ ተናጋሪም ሰው እንዲሁ ያደርጋሉ በጭብጨባ እና እልልታ ይቀበሉታል እና ያስተናግዱታል። ታድያ ተናጋሪዎችን፤ ዘፋኞችን እና ስፖርተኞችን ሰዎች እንዲህ አትኩረው የሚከታተል ከሆነ ምን አይነት ቅንዓት እና ጽናት ሊኖረን ይገባ ይሆን ሰው በኢግዚአብሔር ፀጋ ከገነት ሆኖ ሲያስተምርን?»

"People who watch sports, when they hear that a famous athlete is in town, run to watch him, and all his skill and strength. And there are stadiums full of ten of thousands, all straining their eyes and minds so that they don't miss anything. Or if a famous musician passes through their area, people drop everything, even necessities and urgent business, to sit listening attentively to the words and the music. People will do the same thing for a renown speaker and receive them with clapping hands and cheering. And if in the case of rhetoricians, musicians, and athletes, people pay such close attention, what degree of zeal and earnestness should we display when a man is speaking from heaven with the Grace of God on his tongue?"
